Eric Stromberg is Called to Serve
Eric Stromberg is an Iowa native from Fort Dodge. He graduated from St. Edmond High School and went on to study political science (BA 1995) at Mount Mercy University. There he met his talented and beautiful wife, Mary Jo Demuth of Dunkerton, IA.
Upon graduation they moved to South Bend, IN for Eric to do his graduate studies in the sociology department at the University of Notre Dame. After completing his doctoral research in sociology of religion (Ph.D. 2003), Eric was assistant professor at Saint Mary College, Notre Dame, IN, and Goshen College, Goshen, IN. While living in South Bend they were blessed with their two wonderful children, Luke (14) and Anna (11).
It was a calling into professional lay ministry in the Catholic Church as well as the desire to be closer to family that brought the Strombergs to Waverly in 2007. Eric served as Director of Faith Formation at St. Mary Parish until 2015. He remains very active in his church and community and has found his new work substitute teaching in Waverly and Denver very rewarding.
Now he is answering the call to public service after a number of friends encouraged him to jump into the race for Representative from District 63.
